CHESNEY, MENDES, HALL & OATES STEP UP CHARITY EFFORTS

Kenny Chesney and Shawn Mendes are stepping up their charitable activities in the wake of recent tragedies. Chesney’s Love for Love City is working to help the people of the Virgin Islands; Mendes has pitched in $100K to start a fund for Mexico City relief efforts.

Daryl Hall and John Oates will be performing in the South, donating to hurricane-related efforts.

Chesney reports “Getting supplies in is hard. Finding places for workers to stay is even harder now that Hurricane Maria has done so much damage to St. Croix. Because it’s so hard to get even the basic supplies in, let alone the news media, people really aren’t seeing how devastating these hurricanes have been.”

Having sent planeloads of food, water, medical supplies, generators, tools, clothes, tarps and camping equipment, Chesney is asking fans to contribute at the only site he works with, Love for Love City.

Mendes, who was in Mexico City when the devastating earthquake struck on Tuesday, has started a campaign in conjunction with the Red Cross on CrowdRise.

"After seeing the impact of the damage first hand in Mexico, I wanted to find any way I could to help raise funds," said Mendes. "So we reached out to the Red Cross and partnered with them to setup a way to help those affected by the earthquake."

During the Southern run of their current tour, Daryl Hall & John Oates will be donating a portion of their ticket sales from select tour dates to the Red Cross to benefit people affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

The duo perform tonight at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Texas and Sugar Land, Texas, Tuscaloosa, Ala., Jacksonville, Fla., and Charleston, S.C., next week.

"I know everyone has been experiencing hard times, bad luck and a lot of sadness,” Hall said. “We'll try and do our share to help and also give some soulful cheer at the shows."

Added Oates: "Hopefully our music will bring a small respite from the damages suffered during the hurricane, and more importantly, I'm hopeful that our contribution to the American Red Cross can help those in need."
