U.K. MIDWEEKS: FOOS GOOD AS GOLD

Foo Fighters are heading toward their fourth #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with Concrete and Gold (Columbia) sitting at the top on 43k combined sales at the midway stage. Gary Numan and Prophets of Rage are among new entrants in the Top 5, while over on the singles list, Sam Smith is eyeing a second week at #1.

Concrete and Gold is selling more than the Top 10 combined and could hit one spot higher than the #2 peak its predecessor, Sonic Highways, reached in 2014 on 89k sales. Numan looks set to score his first Top 10 album since ’82 with Savage (Songs From A Broken World) (BMG), while supergroup Prophets of Rage are currently at #4 with their self-titled debut (Caroline).

Further down, Mercury prize winner Sampha is back in the Top 10 at #6 with Process (Young Turks), while fellow nominees and labelmates The xx rise 26 places to #60 with I See You and Loyle Carner’s Yesterday’s Gone (Virgin EMI) is up 144 spots to #91.

Over on the Official Singles midweek chart, Smith’s “Too Good at Goodbyes” (Capitol) is eyeing a second week at #1, with Dua Lipa just 2k combined sales behind at #2 with “New Rules” (Warner Bros.). Little Mix and CNCO’s Latin track “Reggaeton Lento” (Syco) is up two places to #5 following the release of its music video.

Niall Horan currently has this week’s highest new entry with “Too Much To Ask” (Virgin EMI) opening at #14, closely followed by Post Malone f/21 Savage’s “Rockstar” (Island) at #15.
