FLIPOVER FRIDAY: NEW ARRIVALS AT iTUNES AND APPLE MUSIC

It’s a promising week for rock acts as four rock albums open in the Top 10 at iTunes on flipover Friday. Foo Fighters lead the way.

The ninth studio album from Dave Grohl and company, Concrete and Gold (Roswell/RCA), debuts at #1, followed by Prophets of Rage’s self-titled Prophets of Rage/Concord release, the fifth album from Nothing More The Stories We Tell Ourselves (Better Noise) at #3 and the third album from metal act The Contortionist, Clairvoyant (eOne), at #8.

Superfruit, the side project from Pentatonix’s Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying, wheels in at #4 with the six-song EP Future Friends, Pt. Two (RCA). Their full-length Future Friends, which unites parts one and two, is #21.

A Madonna live album, Rebel Heart Tour (Semtex/Eagle Rock), gets into the groove at #6 while Atlantic’s duo of Swedish DJs, Galantis, takes flight with The Aviary at #7.

The second album from Brooklyn’s The Lone Bellow, Walk Into the Storm (Descendant/Sony Masterworks), pops in at #9 and Big & Rich’s first album in three years, Did It for the Party (B$R), is #10.

A collection of familiar names fill slots 11-20, among them Ricky Dillard & New G, Marc Broussard, Musiq Soulchild, Yusuf/Cat Stevens and Michael McDonald.

At Apple Music, the pre-release tracks from Gucci Mane’s Mr. Davis (Atlantic) are getting enough play to push it to #6 and Young Nudy’s mixtape Nudy Land (Paradise East), is #10.

Meanwhile, Sam Smith’s “Too Good at Goodbyes” (Capitol) has crawled into the Top 10 at Apple Music.
