U.K. CHARTS: LOOK WHAT TAYLOR DID

Queens of the Stone Age get a #1 trophy for their mantel.

Taylor Swift has scored her first #1 single in the U.K. with "Look What You Made Me Do" (Virgin EMI) notching up a combined sales tally of just over 65k (30k downloads and 5.3m streams). Over on albums, Queens of the Stone Age also score their first #1 with Villains (Matador) shifting 32k.

"LWYMMD" is Swift’s eighth Top 5 single in Blighty and improves her previous chart peak of #2. It’s the best-selling week for a single since “Despacito’s” stanza seven weeks ago.

Dua Lipa is down to #2 with “New Rules” (Warner Bros.), which is still racking up big Spotify numbers at 3.3m streams this week—just behind "LWYMMD"’s 3.5m. Interesting to note that Spotify—a platform Swift has spurned in the past—claims 66% of the streams for her #1 single. It remains to be seen if Taylor will take advantage of Universal's new deal with Spotify that allows albums to be windowed for the premium tier.

Elsewhere on the Official Singles Chart, P!nk, who is ahead of Dua Lipa on downloads, moves up one place to #3 on the Official Chart with “What About Us” (RCA). “Feels” (Columbia) by Calvin Harris is at #4 and “Friends” (Def Jam/Polydor/Republic) by Justin Bieber and BloodPop is down to #5.

Further down, “More Than Friends” (Warner Bros.) by James Hype f/Kelli-Leigh jumps two places to #8, thanks in part to a discount on iTunes—a tactic that’s also working for Demi Lovato’s “Sorry not Sorry” (Polydor), which skips a few places to #12.

Over on the Official Albums Chart, Villains’ awards QOTSA their first top spot after peaking at #2 with Like Clockwork in 2013. It outsold nearest rival, Ed Sheeran's ÷ (Atlantic), by more than double.

The War on Drugs score their first Top 10 with A Deeper Understanding (Atlantic) at #3; PVRIS also celebrate a personal best with All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need of Hell (Rise) debuting at #4. Former Westlife man Shane Filan ends the week at #5 with new solo set Love Always (Ocean Wave).

Other high entrants include Fifth Harmony with their self-titled second album (Syco) at #10, followed by Florida rapper XXXTentacion at #12 with debut 17 (Bad Vibes). Lil Uzi Vert is #14 with Luv Is Rage 2 (Atlantic) and The Cadillac Three are #16 with Legacy (Big Machine).
