PRINCE, UMG DEAL UNDER INVESTIGATION

A commercial litigator in St. Paul has been tasked with investigating the dealings between the Prince estate, UMG, Warner Bros., Charles Koppelman and L. Londell McMillan. He’s been given four months to determine if Universal deserves a refund.

NPR reported that documents were filed Monday in Minnesota to determine whether Universal Music Group’s $30m deal with Prince's NPG Records should be canceled. Attorney Peter J. Gleekel will oversee the investigation.

Universal states, "the material misrepresentations and nondisclosures made by the Estate's prior representatives [McMillan and Koppelman] to induce UMG to enter a deal that was immediately contested by WBR" means the arrangement should be nixed.

Gleekel has been given a deadline of 12/15 to gather evidence and finish his review.
