FLIPOVER FRIDAY: NEW ARRIVALS AT iTUNES AND APPLE MUSIC

Having built a fan base through a string of mixtapes, Def Jam’s Dave East ascends to #1 at iTunes on this flipover Friday with his 13-track set Paranoia: A True Story. It’s one of nine newcomers in the Top 10.

RCA is sitting pretty in the early morning with Grizzly Bear’s first album in five years—their first for the label— Painted Ruins at #2 and A$AP Ferg’s Still Striving at #8 on iTunes and #19 on Apple Music where it is the week’s top rookie release. The label also has the lone holdover in the Top 10, Kesha’s Rainbow.

The fifth album from Texas country act Josh Abbott Band, Until My Voice Goes Out (Pretty Damn Tough), is #3 followed by The Peace and the Panic (Hopeless), the third studio effort from Welsh pop-punkers Neck Deep.

Phora, the Anaheim rapper making his Warner Bros. debut, Yours Truly Forever, is # 6. The second release this year from Kodak Black, Project Baby 2 (Atlantic), is #7.

Thy Art is Murder’s fourth album, Dear Desolation (Nuclear Blast), blasts in at #9 while Travis Greene’s Crossover: Live From Music City (Provident) occupies #10. New titles from Steven Wilson, TAAEYANG, Mozzy and the Rockabye Baby series fill slots 11-20.

Justin Bieber & BloodPop’s “Friends,” released less than 24 hours ago by GENPOP Corp./RBMG/Schoolboy/Def Jam/Republic, continues to sit at #1 on the iTunes songs chart.
