EVERYONE’S A CRITIC—BUT A DEATH THREAT?

Suge Knight is in legal trouble again. The L.A. County Grand Jury has indicted the former rap mogul for making a death threat against Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray. The infamous onetime Death Row boss allegedly made this criminal felony threat because was displeased with his portrayal in the film. Fittingly, TMZ was the first media outlet to report the news of the indictment, which was issued in February.

The indictment reads in part, "On or about August 8, 2014, Suge Knight…threatened to commit a crime which would result in death and great bodily injury to Felix Gary Gray."

As the story points out, Knight allegedly made the threat during filming, but months before he drove over a man involved in the production in a Compton parking lot.

Knight is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge today, six months after the indictment, oddly enough. He’ll definitely show up, given that he’s been incarcerated since January 2015 on murder and attempted-murder charges for a separate incident.

Sources connected with Knight claim the murder charge against him is falling apart, and they believe law enforcement is simply out to get him, TMZ reports.

For those who watched or are appointment-watching HBO’s The Defiant Ones, the news is an eerie echo of events in the mid-’90s—documented in unsettling detail in Part 3—beginning with the 1995 Source Awards, during which Knight played a central role in fomenting the East Coast-West Coast rap wars, and culminating in the death of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas on 9/7/96 as he sat in a car driven by Knight.
