Buzzing indie-pop band AJR—managed by Steve Greenberg of S-Curve—took over the Clive Davis Theater at Downtown L.A.’s Grammy Museum last night for an intimate performance, preceded by an in-depth Q&A with noticeably enthusiastic audience members.

The wit and authenticity displayed in the NYC-bred trio of brothers’ hour-long chat mimicked their approach to songwriting, as proven by the candid, gold-certified “Weak,” which recently made waves at Pop radio, currently boasts a whopping 230m+ Spotify streams and, as they explained, amplifies their desire to dismantle the falsely positive narrative commonly found in pop music.

Seen wondering how to dismantle a societal aversion to celebratory, week-night body shots are AJR’s Adam Met, Greenberg, AJR’s Jack Met, BMG U.S. President Zach Katz, AJR’s Ryan Met, Grammy Museum Executive Director Scott Goldman.

The largely acoustic, seven-song set, which highlighted the brothers’ instrumental and vocal talents, pulled from recently released album The Click and included performances of “I’m Not Famous,” “Sober Up,” “Drama,” “Turning Out,” “Come Hang Out” and of course “Weak,” which they closed with.

AJR is in the midst of their nationwide What Everyone’s Thinking Tour Pt. II. You’ll find the details on upcoming dates here.
