THE WORLD GETS CHILDISH

It’s fair to say that 2017 is Childish Gambino’s banner year.

The Glassnote superstar’s "Redbone" was recently certified double platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA, and sits at #1 on the Mediabase Rhythm airplay chart this week—a huge accomplishment for a ballad at this predominantly up-tempo format—while approaching Top 20 at Pop. Meanwhile, his #1 R&B album "Awaken, My Love!" has gone Gold.

"Redbone" continues to set new milestones each week, with the track becoming a cultural phenomenon over the summer with the brilliantly timed sync in the hit film Get Out that captured nearly the entire youth market in its record-breaking run, while at the same time dominating the airplay charts Urban AC where he stayed #1 for nine weeks, seizing the hearts of adults everywhere.

“Redbone” is still Top 3 on the U.S. Shazam chart and Top Ten on Spotify’s Top 50 and Pandora’s Top Spins charts.

In a further demonstration of his unparalleled talent, the artist, under his given name, Donald Glover, just recedived an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Directing for work on the show he created, Atlanta.

"Donald is serving you best-case-scenario millennial realness," said mentor Tina Fey when Glover was named to TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2017. "He embodies his generation’s belief that people can be whatever they want."
