"HELLO": 2 BILLION SERVED

Adele’s “Hello” is the latest track to join the 2 billion views club at YouTube, passing the milestone over the holiday weekend.

The video for the XL/Columbia track hit the figure a little over 20 months after it was first posted online. The folks at Forbes noticed the achievement between bites of Nathan’s franks and analyzing bitcoin ransom threats.

If you’ll remember, “Hello” was released to YouTube and the streaming services a month prior to the release of 25 and, at the time, only “Hello” and the album’s other two singles were available for streaming.

About a dozen tracks have topped the 2b mark, led by Psy’s “Gangnam Style” at 2.9m followed very closely by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again.” Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” has 2.6b views. Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse,” with 1.98b plays in the three years since it was first posted, looks to be the next to cross the threshold. Taylor Swift is the only artist with two clips to exceed 2b views, "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space."

YouTube Head of Music Lyor Cohen has promised that Adele received every penny of the $23 she has earned. XL chief Martin Mills is said to have enjoyed two Big Macs and an order of Chicken McNuggets at the Notting Hill Mickey D's with the proceeds.

A worldwide smash, “Hello” has been certified seven-times platinum by the RIAA and earned Adele three Grammys.

In case you’ve spent too much time, jaw agape, watching the “Make America Great Again” video in horror, we offer the pleasing vocals of Ms. Adkins.
