UPDATE: After initially aligning with RCA for the U.S., Louis Tomlinson, the last of the five One Direction members to ink a solo deal, will now be on Epic stateside.
Louis Tomlinson is the last One Direction alumnus to sign a solo deal, and the first to rejoin 1D’s U.K. label SYCO (newly helmed by MD Tyler Brown); he’ll be on Epic in the U.S. The news comes from British tabloid The Sun. Tomlinson made his solo debut alongside Steve Aoki on the single “Just Hold On” (Ultra), which hit #2 in Blighty last year.
Tomlinson joins former bandmates ZAYN (who’s signed to RCA across both sides of the pond) and Harry Styles (Columbia) at Sony. The other two are with UMG—Niall Horan at Capitol U.S./Virgin EMI U.K., and Liam Payne at Republic U.S./Capitol U.K. 1D were SYCO/Columbia.
After ZAYN and Styles both hit #1 with their debut albums, we’re awaiting solo sets from Horan, Payne and now Tomlinson. Will the latter prove a promising solo star? Stay tuned.
