U.K. CHARTS: BEATLES STILL FAB

The Beatles are top dog in Blighty this week as the 50th anniversary remixed and remastered edition of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Apple Corps) hits #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with 37k combined sales. At singles, “Despacito” (Polydor) by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber enjoys its highest sales week to date with 129k.

Alongside its original edition, Sgt Pepper’s has now spent a total of 28 weeks at the top of the chart. It's the best-selling studio album of all time in Blighty, shifting 5.2m copies across its lifetime. That 37k figure includes 5.3k vinyl copies sold, which is more than it did on digital download.

The Charlatans have scored their 10th Top 10 album with Different Days (BMG) at #4. Further down, rock group The Amazons enter at #8 with their self-titled debut, while Bryson Tiller secures his first U.K. Top 40 entry with True To Self (Relentless) at #11.

Ed Sheeran is #2 with ÷ (Atlantic) and Rag ’n’ Bone Man’s Human (Columbia)—which has gone double platinum today with 600k sales—is #3. Harry Styles moves down to #5 with his self-titled debut (Columbia).

Over on the Official Singles list, “Despacito” is the longest running foreign language #1 after four weeks at the summit. Its 129k sales figure is made up of 59k downloads and 10.6m streams.

The highest new single is self-released political track, “Liar Liar,” by Captain Ska at #4. The track criticises Prime Minister Theresa May, who’s Conservative Party is still ahead of Labour in the polls with just days to go before the General Election on 6/8.

Elsewhere, DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One” (Black Butter/Def Jam) stays at #2, “Strip That Down” (Capitol) by Liam Payne f/Quavo is #3 and Shawn Mendes moves down one to #5 with “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” (Virgin EMI).

“Mama” (Virgin EMI) by Jonas Blue f/William Singe rises four spots to #8, while Rita Ora’s first single under her new deal with Ben Cook’s Atlantic, “Your Song,” enters at #13.
