Dropping his sophomore album a month early has paid off for RCA’s Bryson Tiller, who sees his True to Self race to #1 at iTunes on flipover Friday. It’s one of three highly anticipated hip-hop albums in the iTunes Top 10.
Tiller’s album was slated for a 6/23 release and close to midnight he tweeted: “know we said June 23rd... but i say we Set it Off Tonight!! ALBUM OUT NOW.” The clean version is #12.
Lil Yachty’s Teenage Emotions (Quality Control/Motown/Capitol) is #4 at iTunes and Apple Music as well, making it the top streaming debut of the week. Gucci Mane’s Droptopwop (Warner Music Group) is #8 at iTunes and #6 at Apple Music.
Shakira’s first album in three years, El Dorado (Sony Latin), opens at #2 at iTunes; it has already hit #1 on iTunes in 27 countries. And to the deluxe edition of the The Beatles’ Sgt,. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Apple Corps/UMe), which includes 18 bonus tracks, is #5. The album is turning 50 years old.
Christian singer Josh Baldwin’s The War is Over (Bethel Music) debuts at #10.
