ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEW MILEY?

RCA star Miley Cyrus will release her first taste of new music Thursday with single "Malibu"—apparently a tender love song about beau Liam Hemsworth. Cyrus has said that she's taking a more rootsy, singer/songwriter folk approach with her not-yet-tiled full-length, which is due in its entirety later this year and is expected to separate her from the full-fledged pop of Hannah Montana, her controversial, hip-hop-inspired Bangerz era and the psychedelia of the Wayne Coyne-assisted Dead Petz.

We, for one, are nothing but elated and intrigued, considering our appreciation for her Backyard Sessions.

If this project does in fact showcase her striking vocals, as has been said, the world is in for a treat.

Remember: The Tennessee native is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and goddaughter of Dolly Parton (and has a tattoo of a signature Johnny Cash gave her that reads "I'm in your corner"), so it's fair to argue that country music in her blood. Her father has even said that Waylon Jennings, who notably taught her how to play "Good Hearted Woman," used to give a young Cyrus guitar lessons at the kitchen table.

Stay tuned for updates as they come. So far, it's been announced that Cyrus, who will be returning to The Voice soon for its 13th season, has a guest appearance scheduled at this weekend's Wango Tango. She will also be joining iHeart Summer Weekend in Miami on 6/9.
