Buena Vista/Marvel/Disney's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had a tremendous first weekend at the domestic box office, pulling in $145m—more than the rest of Top 50's combined earnings. According to Box Office Mojo, this marks a 54% increase when compared to the 2014 original. This also gives Disney the Top 2 openers of 2017 so far (with Beauty and the Beast's $175m). The soundtrack, meanwhile, is holding steady #2 at iTunes.
