The Fyre Festival, which should have been torched to oblivion at the start for that nauseatingly hipster take on the word "Fire," stranded thousands of its rich, demanding, Millennial attendees on an island in the Bahamas. Festival-goers promptly turned their play-by-play displeasure on social media into a Hunger Games episode, as the scene descended into a chaos as everyone collectively realized they got hustled.
Billed as a luxury music festival co-created by Ja Rule, the "VIP" event was to take place this weekend (4/28-30) on Great Exuma in the Bahamas and positioned as Coachella on steroids when it was announced with a flashy, flossy Instagram video.
Organizers charged from $4k to over $200k to stay in private villas, attend the festival and enjoy high-end food from celebrity chefs, with headlining performances allegedly booked featuring Blink 182, Rae Sremmurd, Skepta, and G.O.O.D. Music acts Desiigner, Tyga, and Pusha T.
Not exactly what happened, however.

So Fyre Fest is a complete disaster. Mass chaos. No organization. No one knows where to go. There are no villas, just a disaster tent city. pic.twitter.com/1lSWtnk7cA

The dinner that @fyrefestival promised us was catered by Steven Starr is literally bread, cheese, and salad with dressing. #fyrefestival pic.twitter.com/I8d0UlSNbd

In case you're wondering, those "cabanas" are actually disaster relief tents.#fyrefestival pic.twitter.com/jaZpkIKVT2

And true to form, the Internet was merciless when commenting on what appeared to be rich, spoiled Millennials in the midst of a huge scam.
#FyreFestival is an art installation where mediocre people realize what their lives would be like without rich parents.

I barely want to pay $200 to see Beyonce & Rihanna and people out here paying 12K for Blink-182 and JaRule. #fyrefestival pic.twitter.com/BfQAFwnZFM

Rich guy at #FyreFestival: HELLO POLICE MY SANDWICH IS BAD SEND EVERYONE
(UPDATE, 5/1) The aftermath continues for the beleaguered festival, as organizers were hit on Sunday with a $100m class action suit against organizers, filed by attorney Mark Geragos on behalf of client Daniel Jun. An understandable development when you invite a bunch of wealthy party-goers who have the resources to retaliate, like hiring superstar attorneys to litigate for fraud.
And the suit claims exactly that; citing that a "lack of adequate food, water, shelter, and medical care created a dangerous and panicked situation among attendees — suddenly finding themselves stranded on a remote island without basic provisions."
Geragos said in a statement that Fyre organizers "need to step up and make this right but unfortunately, the opposite has occurred."
