Two things spring to mind as we survey the tracklist for Disney's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 "mix tape" ST, due 4/21.
The first is that this Marvel blockbuster sequel's soundtrack is likely to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, packed as it is with the kind of giant retro hits parents and kids can groove on together. Ken Bunt and team are undoubtedly in for a windfall.
The second is: Damn, that's our adolescence. And damn, we're old. Oy vey.
Anyhoo, the set includes classics from E.L.O., Fleetwood Mac, Sweet (whose "Fox on the Run" struts through the movie's teaser spot), Cheap Trick, George Harrison, Cat Stevens, Parliament (the immortal funk jam "Flash Light") and more.
Between the movie, the Baby Groot merch and this ST, Guardians 2 should be a decent earner, we're thinkin'.
Speaking of adolescence, did you know that one of the vocal hooks in "Flash Light" was inspired by the traditional music George Clinton heard at the bar mitzvah of a record exec's son? You did know that? OK, never mind.
