Post Malone gets a hankering for biscuits at a Coachella party.
Republic’s Julia Michaels and Post Malone make the quick leap from the HITS New & Developing cover to platinum certifications. Michaels’ single “Issues” crossed the 2 million mark in global consumption in three months and Malone’s Stoney has posted sales in excess of 1 million copies.
Michaels’ “Issues” is the best-selling song by a new artist released in 2017, and the highest on-demand audio streaming song by a new artist released this year. Michaels is the first new artist of the year whose debut single reached 100m streams.
Malone’s Stoney joins his single “White Iverson” in platinum status; the single is now four-times platinum. Stoney has been among the Top 10 streaming albums for 18 consecutive weeks. The record’s platinum certification was celebrated during a private party at Coachella. To celebrate, he ordered $8,000 worth of Popeye’s biscuits that were delivered to the festival grounds.
