"MORNING" IN AMERICA (UPDATE)

Billy Porter's The Soul of Richard Rodgers is out now and prominently featured on the iTunes store and various streaming services. You can check out his collaboration with Pentatonix on "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" below.

People offered the first listen of "Morning" on 4/13. The Broadway star's new album of Rodgers material (on Bee & El/Sony Masterworks Broadway) is an inventive take on the great American composer's songbook that comes out this week (about which more here).

"What I love about Pentatonix so much is they’re an a capella group that has shattered that glass ceiling in the pop world," Porter notes of RCA's vocal quintet, whose new set is on its way to a big chart bow. "They’re huge pop stars, and they represent everything I’m trying to say. It doesn’t just have to be one thing. Popular music can be many many different things."
