ROOTS, USHER TO GROOVE FOR ACLU ON FACEBOOK LIVE "TELETHON"

The Roots and Usher have been added to the ACLU benefit Stand for Rights, streaming Friday 3/31 at 7pm EDT on Facebook Live.

Others scheduled to appear at the telethon-style benefit include, Tom Hanks, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Amy Poehler, Zosia Mamet, Tracy Morgan, Jon Hamm and many others. Click the link above for video teasers and other messages from the participants.

For 97 years, the ACLU has been the patron saint of civil liberties, and they’ve been working overtime these past few months to ensure that the current presidential administration’s actions stay within the framework of the Constitution and that basic human rights remain in place. Their recent watchdogging including filing a federal lawsuit that helped shut down President Trump’s Muslim ban and organizing grassroots resistance movements to make certain all American voices are heard.

"Our work in the courts is essential right now to hold off the worst of the abuses," said ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero. "But it is also the collective will and tireless actions of 'we the people' that serve as a bulwark against unconstitutional and wrong-headed policies and executive orders. By supporting our work through this telethon, we can fight even harder to defend the rights guaranteed by our Constitution."

Stand for Rights will broadcast live from New York, executive produced by Friend of a Friend Productions in collaboration with The Huffington Post, Funny or Die and Maggie Vision.
