“Down,” the Marian Hill track featured in a popular black & white Beats ad, hits #1 on two Shazam charts this week. For the sixth week in a row, it is the most Shazam’d song in the U.S., and this week the Photo Finish/Republic recording is the Biggest Mover, rising 200 slots to #1.
Drake, meanwhile, sees two songs from his More Life (YMCMB/Republic) take the #2 and #2 slots, “Passionfruit” and “Portland.” The U.K., though, is tagging a litany of Drake titles; he has six songs among the Biggest Movers on the Shazam U.K. Top 100.
Big Little Lies, the HBO series that has consistently delivered titles to the Top 5 Biggest Movers list, scores again with Big Brother & The Holding Company’s “Ball and Chain” (Columbia). The vocals of Janis Joplin and guitar work of Sam Andrew and James Gurley were featured at length in back-to-back episodes on 3/19 (“Ball and Chain”) and 3/26 (“Call on Me”). It rose 152 slots to #49. (Leon Bridges’ “River,” heard in an earlier episode of Big Little Lies, rose this week in the U.K.)
A Gray’s Anatomy sync of Emeli Sande's “Where I Sleep” (Virgin) helped push the song up 145 slots to #56.
