KATY PERRY TO HEADLINE BBC RADIO 1 FESTIVAL

Katy Perry dropped by Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show this morning to announce a return to Blighty for a Saturday night headline appearance at the station's Big Weekend in Hull on 5/27. She'll be joining Little Mix, Kings of Leon and Stormzy on the bill, and paying a visit to the Yorkshire Pudding factory.

For the uninitiated, Yorkshire Puddings are a batter-based British delicacy and frequently consumed with Sunday roasts. KP’s also looking forward to the other culinary treats Hull has to offer, like chip spice (flavoured salt for fries) and savoury patties (deep-fried mashed potato). What? You Yanks eat macaroni and cheese from a packet.

Ben Cooper, Controller, Radio 1 said: “Radio 1's Big Weekend just got bigger. The young audiences in Hull and on the BBC are in for one of the planet’s greatest performers.”

Hosted by Radio 1 DJs, Radio 1’s Big Weekend is Europe’s largest free ticketed festival, and will be heading to Hull 5/27-28 to coincide with the U.K. City of Culture celebrations for 2017. Over 50k music fans will be visiting Burton Constable Hall.

The event will be broadcast live on Radio 1 and streamed via its website. All performances will be available to watch live and on demand on Radio 1’s BBC iPlayer channel.
