iHEART AWARDS RATINGS RISE

The iHeart Radio Music Awards saw a significant spike in viewership, rising 35% over 2016’s numbers.

Sunday’s telecast was watched by 2.86m on TNT, TBS and TruTV, up from the 2.12m that tuned in last year. TNT was tops with 1.42m viewers.

Numbers were also up in the 18-49 demo by 31%.

It was the second year the wards show was aired on the cable networks, but the first in which they did not face heavy competition. The 2016 awards aired against the ACM Awards and the season finale of The Walking Dead.

It also helped that the show was shortened to two hours from three.
