Spotify has tweeted out a big milestone: 50 million subscribers. The streaming behemoth, which is still attempting to close its licensing deals with the rights holders, currently represents more than 60% of the streaming marketplace (more about that later). In the meantime, Daniel Ek has approved extra lingonberries on staffers' pancakes.

And the support from the music community was immediate and glowing, with several notable superstars like Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper, Migos, Shawn Mendes, Sia and Shakira re-tweeting the news in solidarity, with a few offering their own messages of congratulations:
