HEY HEY, YOU YOU GET ONTO MY SOUNDCLOUD

SoundCloud’s attempting to push its way into the streaming conversation, announcing a budget subscription package that it hopes will lure subscribers away from streaming leaders Apple and Spotify.

The company announced Tuesday that it will offer a $4.99 per month for ad-free access to 120 million songs. A rebranded premium package, for $9.99, is called SoundCloud Go+, and includes 150 million tracks with additional features yet to be announced.

"Users have even more freedom to choose the features and content they want, at the price that fits their budget," Alex Ljungaid, chief executive of the Berlin-based company, told Fortune.

The new streaming service will be available immediately in eight countries, including the U.S., Canada and the UK.

Founded in 2008, SoundCloud is best known for giving users a DIY platform to upload their own songs and mixes. They claim 175 million listeners but haven’t offered subscription data. Spotify leads all streamers with more 40 million subscribers, while Apple is second with approximately 20 million.
