REMY MA'S BRUTAL DISS RECORD RISES

Remy Ma's brutal diss record aimed at Nicki Minaj has certainly hit a nerve with the public, even if Minaj herself has yet to fully acknowledge the track's existence, let alone respond.

Called "ShETHER" (RNG/EMPIRE) a direct riff of Nas’ iconic 2001 diss track to Jay Z called "Ether"— a term that has since gone on in the hip-hop lexicon to describe what happens when an MC has been so crushed by one's opponent they're effectively erased from the equation—the Remy Ma version is now sitting at #14 at iTunes.

Meanwhile, the lyric page at Genius.com is trending at #1 with nearly half a million hits a day as everyone goes to fully examine Remy's ferocious rhymes.

The song is now widely available for stream on Spotify and Apple Music, with the latter even wandering into the fray of the battle on social media with a post to put it on everyone's radar when the song first dropped on 2/25. The shade was quite intentional—don't forget that Minaj is one of the official artist co-owners of competitor Tidal and among the luminaries who stood at that infamous press conference a few years back.

Remy Ma has been off the map for a bit having recently come out of prison on a gun charge, but in the year after her release managed to score a platinum and Grammy nominated hit with Fat Joe's "All The Way Up" (Terror Squad/EMPIRE) that gave her some real momentum.

The battle between Ma and Minaj has been brewing— via veiled shots on other tracks— for nearly a decade. But hopefully Nicki won't use the playbook of her ex-boyfriend Meek Mill, who started a beef with Drake and was subsequently ethered last year when Drizzy dropped multiple diss tracks in response, including the bangers "Charged Up" and "Back To Back."

Minaj has been focusing on work and posting pics of a video shoot she's on with Future and Gucci Mane in Miami.
