U.K. MIDWEEKS: RAG'N'BONE MAN STILL #1

Wondering what new releases are making an early impact in Blighty? We’ve got the midweek chart update, but with a warning: There could very well be a shake-up by Friday after the BRIT Awards take place on Wednesday.

After a smashing first week, Rag’n’Bone Man’s Human (Columbia) is heading for its second week at #1 on the Official Albums Chart. It's currently outselling nearest rival Under Stars (Virgin EMI), the fourth album from Scottish singer/songwriter Amy MacDonald, by a 2:1 ratio.

Ryan Adams is at #3 with Prisoner (Virgin EMI), while Ed Sheeran’s second album X (Atlantic) moves up three spots to #4 following the release of the third track—“How Would You Feel (Paean)”—from his forthcoming new album. Although not an “official single,” the track entered the Official Singles Chart at #2 and could very well be #1 by week’s end.

Closing the albums Top 5 at midway stage is the Trolls soundtrack (RCA), which rises seven spots to a new peak of #5 following the film’s release on DVD.

Over on the singles chart, Sheeran has a rather impressive three entries in the Top 5. “Shape of You” is still #1 but has strong competition from “How Would You Feel (Paean),” which is just 700 combined sales behind. “Castle on the Hill,” meanwhile, has slid two places to #5.

Rag’n’Bone Man’s “Human” is down one place to #3 and the new single from British stalwarts Take That (minus Robbie Williams and Jason Orange), “Giants” (Polydor), enters at #4.
