FLIPOVER FRIDAY: NEW ARRIVALS AT iTUNES AND APPLE MUSIC
It’s a bright and sunny Friday morning at L.A. Reid’s Epic Records as three of the label’s artists—Future, Jessie James Decker and Jidenna—open in the Top 10 on the iTunes albums chart this flipover Friday.
Future’s fifth studio album is simply titled Future and it heads straight to #1, the same spot where its 2016 predecessor, EVOL sat. More than just New York Jets fans are clamoring for the pop-country music of Jessie James Decker as her EP Gold sparkles at #3. (Her husband is the wide receiver Eric Decker). And the category-defying Jidenna hails the arrival of The Chief at #10.
The Capitol Music Group is home to two of the week’s other rookies. Ryan Adams’ Prisoner (PaxAmericana/Blue Note) has captured the #2 slot while Alison Kraus’ solo debut, Windy City (Hokker/Capitol), a collection of vintage country tunes, blows in at #5.
Fat Joe & Remy Ma’s Plata O Plomo (RNG/Empire) goes straight outta da Bronx to #9.
The iTunes songs chart welcomes three new singles. Kygo f/Selena Gomez’s “It Ain’t Me” (Interscope/Sony/Ultra) is at #3 and Ed Sheeran’s third single from his upcoming album, “How Would You Feel (Paean)” (WEA), is #5. The Valentine’s Day release from Maroon 5 f/Future, “Cold” (222/Interscope), is #9.
Over at Apple Music, the lone new arrival in the albums Top 10 is Money Bagg Yo’s Heartless (Be Great Music), which came out 2/14. It has hit #8.
