With the Grammys now in the rearview mirror, those music awards show withdrawals are coming on hard and fast. The Academy of Country Music has just the antidote. Just in the nick of time, they’ve announced the nominations for the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards, held 4/2 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. We thank them for their hospitality.
Keith Urban paced the field with seven nominations. Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert each had six, while Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw scored five noms apiece.
Urban’s nominations included his seventh nod for Entertainer of the Year. His competition includes show co-host Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line and Carrie Underwood. He’s also up for Male Vocalist of the Year for the 10th time. He double dips in the Album of the Year category, nominated as both an artist and producer. Likewise, he received both artist and producer nods in the Single Record of the Year category for “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” which is also competing in the Song of the Year category.
In addition to Urban, many other ACM faves are in the mix, including Lambert, nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year for the 11th time (she’s won the award seven years in a row), and Kenny Chesney, who snagged two nominations (for artist and producer) in the Vocal Event of the Year category for “Setting the World on Fire,” his duet with Pink.
There’s plenty of new blood on the list, led by Morris with six nominations. Other first-timers include Lauren Alaina, Kane Brown, Chris Lane, LOCASH, Jon Pardi, Brett Young and Cassadee Pope.
Dierks Bentley will join Bryan as co-host for the second straight year. Bentley is nominated for three awards, including his third nod for Album of the Year for Black, fourth for Male Vocalist of the Year and second for Vocal Event of the Year (“Different For Girls” with Elle King).
CBS will broadcast the event. See below for a list of artist noms.
