POWER OUTAGE

If the Bible’s just-published Power 100 is the latest iteration of a running joke, the party celebrating its publication Thursday (2/9) at Cecconi’s was a real knee-slapper. No-shows to the sparsely attended event included #1 Daniel Ek, #5 Rob Stringer and #10 Doug Morris,as well as two-thirds of the #4 Apple trio, Eddy Cue and Jimmy Iovine; Robert Kondrk showed up. Others who felt their placements weren’t high enough also chose to boycott.

One such boycotter spent Grammy weekend arguing that he/she deserved far higher placement, leading to hard feelings between said individual and his/her own boss resulting from the disparity between their respective rankings. Others found the whole affair laughable, as when L.A. Reid, accepting an award from Clive Davis, quipped that he’d never before been honored for finishing in 39th place.
