GRAMMY VIEWERSHIP RISES 1M OVER 2016

Sunday’s Grammy Awards telecast on CBS was watched by 26.07m viewers, a rise of more than 1m viewers from 2016.

The second year in which the Grammys have aired live across the country, it was the most watched Grammys since 2014. Its 18-49 audience was just under 10m, a 4% rise over the previous year.

Key difference between 2017 and 2016 was that last year’s show was on a Monday at the end of a holiday weekend. Both years included a red carpet pre-show and for the first time in a dog’s age, 60 Minutes was not aired in full.

Sunday’s show had 800k more than viewers than the last time it was held on a Sunday, in 2015. The number of viewers in the demo, though, was down this year by about 900k.
