SONG REVENUE CHART: SPLITSVILLE

The virtual cash register has been hot to the touch of late, our latest BuzzAngle Music-powered Song Revenue Chart indicates, as the top four earners all made upward moves, in sharp contrast to the previous week.

Speaking of contrast, the week’s biggest hits achieved their rankings via wildly varying combinations of streams and sales. ZAYN & Taylor’s contribution to the soundtrack of Fifty Shades Darker experienced a 76% uptick, with twice as many sales as streams, on the eve of the simultaneous movie and album release.

Likewise, “Shape of You,” the holdover chart-topper from Ed Sheeran, generated more moolah from sales than streams, but with a much tighter at 5-to-4 split.

Migos, meanwhile, made enough on streams to buy a Benz, while the group’s sales total would barely cover an Uber fare to the airport. We’re exaggerating to make a point, OK?

“Congratulations” to the week’s biggest gainer, Post Malone, with +32%, as Republic hatches another one.

Marketshare: UMG 46%, WMG 37%, SME 15%
