GRAMMY SPECULATION, FEATURING ALTERNATIVE FACTS

Let's speculate about who else might be hitting the stage on Music's Biggest Night, while also dutifully reporting the latest barrage of Alternative Facts.

Rihanna, who earned seven nods including Record of the Year, is a strong bet to perform.

Alternative Fact: Grammy winners are actually determined by the full voting membership.

We have reason to believe that despite not being nominated (since his single and album came out after the deadline), the very Grammy-friendly Bruno Mars, whose "24k Magic" has been playing in promo spots, will be participating as a performer. (UPDATE: This has since been confirmed)

Alternative Fact: "Uptown Funk" was originally titled "Downtown Skidoo."

Inside word is as it stands now, Drake, despite myriad nominations, apparently will not, having booked shows in the U.K. throughout February. He's slated to be performing in Manchester on Grammy night.

Alternative Fact: Neil Portnow says this year's Grammys is not technically an official Grammys, but "more of a mixtape."

Justin Bieber's tour is currently slated to kick off on 2/15 in Mexico, which could signal a scheduling opportunity.

Alternative Fact: The Grammys' "secret committee" is made of illegal immigrants whose votes were illegally counted.

Miranda Lambert and Sia, who've been a big part of the Grammy "Believe in Music" campaign, seem very likely to turn in performances.

Alternative Fact: For half of Sia's performances, it's actually Mariah Carey under that wig. Also, Mariah has never lip-synched.

Observers expect that telegenic quintet Pentatonix, who scored with a network holiday special of their own following well received appearances on prior Grammys and the CMAs, will lend their pipes to the event.

Alternative Fact: Portnow, Ken Ehrlich and Jack Sussman are now a vocal trio and will bust out their close-harmony act to open the show.

It's a fair bet that all five Best New Artist contenders will contribute some kind of performance during the evening.

Alternative Fact: William Hung will perform an hour-long tribute to the Greats of Prog Rock.
