THE DEATH OF PRINT JOURNALISM: SONG AND DANCE EDITION

Glassnote's Childish Gambino, who graces the cover of our most recent issue, follows up his acclaimed album Awaken, My Love with two Golden Globe wins for Atlanta, the trailblazing FX series he created and stars in. The Globes reactivated sales for the record, which finds the actor/writer/musician transitioning from brainy hip-hop to soulful funk-rock with aplomb. This HITS cover appearance, meanwhile, is a nightmare from which he desperately hopes to Awaken.

Interscope chief John Janick, our Contents page VIP, has a spring in his step these days, and not only because the soundtrack to smash musical La La Land is selling like hotcakes in the wake of stellar box office, Golden Globes domination and attendant Oscar buzz. Janick and team are also singing the praises of smashes from J. Cole, Rae Sremmurd, Maroon 5 and Machine Gun Kelly. But this HITS Contents blah-blah is one number he'd probably like to skip.
