TWO AGAINST THE HOUSE: STEELY DAN SETS VEGAS RUN

Steely Dan has been booked for a nine-night residency at the Opaline Theatre at The Venetian Las Vegas where Donald Fagen & Walter Becker and the gang will dig deep into the group’s repertoire as they have in recent years at New York’s Beacon. Live Nation is promoting the residency.

The announcement of the April run did not indicate whether they will perform entire albums on specific nights as they did in the fall in New York. Live Nation only said “Steely Dan will entrance audiences with a set of their classic songs and diverse selections from their extraordinary catalog, rich with infectious tunes, bodacious harmonies, irresistible grooves, blazing solo work, rich ensembles and sleek, subversive lyrics.”

You can buy a thrill starting Tuesday with an American Express presale; tickets go on sale to the public on 1/20. The shows will be held on the 12th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 21st, 22nd, 26th, 28th and 29th.

Steely Dan’s lineup is Jon Herington (guitar), Keith Carlock (drums), Freddie Washington (bass), Jim Beard (keyboards), a four-piece horn section and three backup vocalists. Not sure who will work the saxophone.
