AIRPODS AD SENDS MARIAN HILL SOARING

Remember Feist’s “1 2 3 4”? How about The Caesars’ “Jerk It Out”? Certainly Bono shouting “uno, dos, tres, catorce” rings a bell. Well all those songs were prominently featured in iPod ads that led to hit singles. Could the first Apple AirPods ad have a similar effect for Republic’s Marian Hill?

"Down" by Marian Hill, a male-female duo out of Philadelphia, accompanies the black-and-white AirPods ad that debuted over the weekend and was featured during several of the NFL playoff games. The song spent much of the MLK Jr. weekend in the iTunes Top 20, peaking at #12 and currently at #14.

Below is the ad.

Last summer, the duo did an interview and a performance of “Down” at YouTube’s Los Angeles headquarters.
