Winning seven Golden Globe awards continues to build an audience for La La Land’s music at streaming services. The cast-sung “Another Day of Sun” from the Interscope-released soundtrack has hit #5 on Spotify’s Viral 50 chart while Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone’s duet “City of Stars” is #10. Another five tracks are in the Top 25.
On Apple Music, the soundtrack is #8; besides Disney’s Moana, it is the only non-Rhythmic title in the Top 20. It continues to hold onto #1 at iTunes. And the film, which started its limited opening four weeks ago, is at the beginning of its wide release.
The Lionsgate release will expand to more than 1,800 theaters on Friday, including about 150 IMAX theaters. The musical will also likely benefit from the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday.
The film went wide to 1,515 screens last week, grossing $34.7m to take its cume to $51.7m.
