Outgoing President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama— well known as major music fans who have regularly presented fantastic music events at the White House, submitted Spotify playlists, even hosted their own South By South Lawn Music Festival—will be throwing one last goodbye party Friday (1/6) for their closest A-List friends and donors, according to The Washington Post.
Although details about the event are thin, The President did allude to this affair in an earlier interview with People when he told a young fan they would have a final "grown up" party before leaving DC. As they have done in the past with private parties, the Obamas will be footing the bill themselves.
The First Couple's inner circle celebrity posse are all rumored to be there, including Beyoncé —who sang at both of his inaugurations— husband Jay Z, Oprah Winfrey, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Samuel L Jackson, J.J. Abrams, George Lucas, Bradley Cooper and Chance The Rapper, who tweeted about flying to DC for the event.
The party will serve as a kick off to a goodbye tour of sorts, as the President will head to Chicago on 1/10 to deliver a farewell address. After that, we expect to hear the dulcet tones of Ted Nugent issuing from the Rose Garden.
