2016 ARTIST SPS: AN ALL-STAR CHART

The expected superstars dominate our year-end Artist SPS Top 50 chart, with YMCMB/Republic's streaming colossus Drake at #1, followed by Columbia's conquering sirens Beyoncé and Adele; Westbury/Roc Nation's Rihanna also lands in the Top 5. Prince's untimely death earlier this year caused a flurry of activity (mostly in sales, thanks to exclusive streaming on Tidal) that powered him to #6. XO/Republic's The Weeknd, Def Jam's Justin Bieber, G.O.O.D./Def Jam's Kanye West and Blackened's Metallica complete the Top 10.

While UMG leads in marketshare, its margin is smaller here than on other year-end countdowns, at 41% to Sony's 32% and WMG's 24%. Speaking of markets and sharing, excuse us while we find out how late the dispensary is open.
