The highest earner by some distance in the final Song Revenue Chart of 2016 is The Weeknd, whose “Starboy” throws another $164k and change on Abel Tesfaye’s ever-growing money pile. And for the second week in a row, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

In last week’s chart, the XO/Republic album, released on Black Friday, placed 18 tracks in the Top 50. There’s carryover to the new chart, with 11 Starboy tracks represented, though each experienced the requisite post-release slippage, including the single, which was brought in 18% less dough than the previous week.

Fellow Canadian and Republic label mate Drake was in plus territory with recent release “Fake Love” (+7%), the third and last track to generate six figures on the week. Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” is showing signs of life with a 1% revenue uptick, enough to move it up one slot to #5. Interestingly, Bruno’s single is the only one in the Top 10 to bring in more money from downloads than streams; the next track to follow the same pattern is John Legend’s debuting “Love Me Now” (Columbia) at #13. In all, only six tracks in the Top 50 generated more revenue from sales than streaming. Get used to it, boys and girls.   

One of those that did sell more than stream was Pentatonix's version of "Hallelujah" (RCA), which jumps #27-26 on this week's roundup, but even there a third of the cheddar comes from streaming.
