EODM DOC TO PREMIERE AT PALM SPRINGS FEST

The  documentary Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends) will received its worldwide premiere at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January. This premiere has special significance to the Eagles of Death Metal: They were born, bred and raised in the Palm Desert area and still have homes there.

The entire band, including Jesse Hughes and Joshua Homme, their families, friends, loved ones, business partners and filmmakers are expected to attend the screening.

The film, directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Live Nation, will air on HBO in February. It tracks the band’s experiences both before and after the 11/13/15 Paris concert at which terrorists attacked, claiming 89 lives. It also takes a close look at the relationship between singer Hughes and band co-founder, drummer Homme, who have been friends since childhood.

Hanks, who has been friends with the band for almost 10 years, wanted to “document the band and their fans to try and make something positive from something truly unfathomable,” according to an HBO  statement.

The film also includes the band’s emotional return to Paris on 2/16/16, as they attempt to heal. U2’s Bono and The Edge, who invited Eagles of Death Metal to return to Paris and perform with them shortly after the attack, also appear in the film.

The doc features original music from longtime Queens of the Stone Age contributor Alain Johannes.

The festival will release dates and times of screenings on Friday.
