SINGLES GOING STEADY IN U.K.
CHART RACE

After a late weekend release, Sony acts Louis Tomlinson & Steve Aoki and X Factor U.K. winner Matt Terry are battling for the highest new entry on the Top 5 Official Singles Chart. Who’s ahead?

Tomlinson and Aoki have hugely improved their midweek position of #21 with "Just Hold On" (Ultra) currently sitting at #2 behind long-running #1 “Rockabye” by Atlantic’s Clean Bandit.

Terry is one spot behind at #3 with “When Christmas Comes Around” (Syco). Both tracks are hovering around the combined 30k mark, with just 2k sales separating the two, after both being performed on the X Factor over the weekend. Interestingly, sales are 80-90% full-priced downloads.

The singles are now in the race for the coveted Christmas #1 alongside a number of charity entries, which will be decided on 12/23.

Although Terry’s single is on Syco, the singer has signed an albums deal with RCA—passing up the usual contract with Simon Cowell’s label to follow in the footsteps of fellow X Factor contestant and label mate, Olly Murs, according to The Sun.
