The execs at Capitol Records put away the Champagne Monday night and broke out the eggnog to start the holiday season with the 58th annual lighting of the Capitol Tower Tree. Meanwhile, over on Argyle, more than chestnuts were roasting on an open fire.
To celebrate the holidays and their 75th anniversary, the label has released the 24-track A Capitol Christmas, which includes Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You),” Julie London’s “I’d Like You For Christmas” and Bing Crosby’s “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
Outside the nearby HITS office, the holiday spirit started with Festivus celebrants and the annual airing of grievances.
