HITS HIGH FIVE:
THE VOTES ARE IN

In a week where we lost Leonard Cohen, the news cycle was dominated by a single story. The music business carried on—mostly in a daze—and deals were still struck, people were honored and the Top 10 still had 10 records in it.

Here are the HITS' High Five top stories of the week:

Island’s Bon Jovi tops HITS’ Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with their 13th studio album, This House Is Not For Sale thanks to a strong ticket bundle.

Sir Lucian Grainge's UMG fueled better-than-expected results to bolster Vivendi’s third quarter earnings thanks to a 68% gorth in streaming revenue.

Todd Moscowitz has launched Cold Heat, a JV label with UMG, in a deal similar to Scooter Braun's Schoolboy imprint.

The biz hailed Joel Katz’s creativity and generosity as he received the City of Hope’s Spirit of Life award at a lavish gathering on the Santa Monica pier.

And then there’s that one story.
