BMG ENTERS THE FRAY WITH MALAY

BMG has inked a label JV deal with Grammy-winning producer/songwriter Malay (Sam Smith, ZAYN, Frank Ocean, John Legend). The Randy Cohen-managed creator (aka James Ryan Ho) will work with BMG’s Jon Cohen and team to develop new artists on the imprint, the name of which is TBA; the parties also announced an extension of Malay’s pub deal with BMG.

In addition to Ocean’s Blonde and Channel Orange (the latter earning him a Grammy), Malay produced ZAYN’s Mind of Mine; worked with Alessia Cara, Tori Kelly and Yelawolf; and oversaw the soundtrack for Netflix’s acclaimed series The Get Down. He’s also contributing songs to upcoming projects by Smith, ZAYN and Amine.
