PENTATONIX PUTS
A STAR ATOP
ITUNES' TREE

Music fans seeking the comforts of eggnog and harmony in a time of disquiet are turning to RCA’s Pentatonix, whose A Pentatonix Christmas is sitting at #1 on the iTunes album chart. With That’s Christmas to Me at #25, the a cappella quintet is the only act with holiday albums in the Top 30.

Simultaneously, the album’s first single, a stirring version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” is sitting in the Top 25 on the iTunes singles chart. The video is fast approaching 40m views, and while the album is attracting streams—it’s at #66 on Apple Music—it’s not to the point that sales are being cannibalized.

Other Pentatonix albums are on the chart as well: The deluxe edition of That’s Christmas to Me sits at #80 while PTXmas is at #111.

Last week, NBC announced it would air A Pentatonix Christmas Special—the group’s first special—on 12/14. Among the guests appearing are Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson.
