Checking into the Memory Motel? The Rolling Stones have released the first video from their upcoming album of blues covers, Blue & Lonesome (Interscope), and a museum exhibit that focuses on their fashion history opens Saturday in New York.
“Exhibitionism—The Rolling Stones,” a hit in London, will be staged at Industria in the West Village. Organizers bill it as the largest collection of the Stones’ stage outfits, musical instruments and memorabilia ever assembled. It starts with Brian Jones’ houndstooth-check jacket and includes Mick’s Lucifer cape from Altamont and his ‘70s jumpsuits, Charlie Watts’ bespoke suits and a whole lot of things with ruffles.
The New York Times has an extensive preview on the exhibit. We’ll report back next week after we the thing.
Meanwhile, the band has released a video of their version of Little Walter’s “Hate to See You Go,” the B side to his 1955 single “Too Late.” The album comes out 12/2.
