MUSICARES SETS PETTY-PALOOZA LINEUP

Everybody loves Tom Petty—that’s a given. But the list of artists who will salute him at the MusiCares Person of the Year Gala is an astonishing collection of heavy hitters lining up to cover a Petty classic.

The list of performers starts with Foo Fighters, Don Henley, Norah Jones, Kings Of Leon, Randy Newman, Stevie Nicks and Lucinda Williams. It continues: Gary Clark Jr., George Strait, Jackson Browne, the Desert Rose Band’s Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen, Elle King, Regina Spektor and The Bangles. And of course, Jeff Lynne. Recent MusiCares honoree Charlie T. Wilbury Jr. is missing from the list, but the Recording Academy says additional performers will be announced shortly.

T Bone Burnett will serve as musical director and Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers will close out the evening.

The event's Tribute Chairs are MusiCares board member Olivia Harrison, Ringo Starr and Cameron Strang, chairman/CEO of Warner Bros. Records. The event will be held 2/10 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
