EAGLES OF DEATH METAL DOC SET TO PREMIERE ON HBO

Colin Hanks’ documentary Eagles Of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends) will premiere on HBO in February, and will screen in theaters to qualify for the 2018 Academy Awards. The first release from Live Nation Productions, the film arm of the concert promoter, Nos Amis will track the Eagles of Death Metal’s experiences before and after the attacks at Le Bataclan Theatre in Paris on 11/13/15, and examine the relationship between singer Jesse Hughes and band co-founder/drummer Josh Homme.

Hanks has been friends with the band since the filming of his first documentary, All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records, which came out in 2015. Hanks told Deadline the movie is an examination of the first steps in a second life—in this case, the life of a band and its fans, after a terrorist assault in which 89 people were killed.

In a statement HBO issued, Hanks said his goal was to “document the band and their fans to try and make something positive from something truly unfathomable.”

The film includes interviews with U2’s Bono and The Edge about inviting the band to return to Paris to play with U2. It follows the band’s return to the city for their first full headline show since the attack, where EODM invited the survivors of the Bataclan, among others, to complete the concert that was cut short by the terrorist attack.
