S-Curve vocalist supreme and Tony-winning Hamilton breakout Leslie Odom, Jr. has teamed up with Sara Bareilles (herself a Tony nominee for Waitress) for the song and performance video “Seriously.” The complex and powerful Bareilles-penned composition imagines President Obama’s private (and anguished) thoughts about the current election and the rise of Trump. The clip premiered earlier today on This American Life; you can check it out below.
The song (which will be available as a free MP3 starting 10/31) is one of three commissioned for the election-themed Seriously? episode of This American Life. "I feel very lucky that two of the most talented people working today on Broadway agreed to make a song for our show," host/creator Ira Glass said. "I love that they made a song that’s a genuinely great song with a ton of feeling, a work of art on its own. Like, the melody got stuck in my head."
S-Curve chief Steve Greenberg, meanwhile, is angling for an ambassadorship under Madam President.
